There are two types of Articles → 1 Indefinite Articles 2. Definite Articles

Uses of Indefinite Articles (A, An)

1 एकवचन संज्ञा के साथ --- This is a pen.

2 यदि एकवचन संज्ञा का उच्चारण स्वर जैसा हो An का प्रयोग -- I bought an inkpot.

3 भाव,दर ,गति बताने वाले शब्दों जैसे प्रति के लिए I drive my car fifty miles an hour.

4 विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्यों में एकवचन संज्ञा से पहले What a beautiful dress!

5 किसी पूरे वर्ग या जाति को बताने के लिए A monkey is a notorious animal.

नोट : Uncountable nouns जैसे ( wheat, milk, water) से पहले a/an का प्रयोग नहीं किया जाता

Definite Article का प्रयोग

1 जिसे हम पहले से जानते हैं या किसी Noun का पहले जिक्र हो चूका हो I

I met a man. The man was honest.

2 जब दो Proper Nouns कि तुलना हो तब Kalidas was the Shakespear of India.

3 जब Noun की विशेषता बताई जाती है तो उससे पहले This is the player who won the trophy.

4 Designation (पद) से पहले Mr. Balwan is the Principal of our school.

5 पुस्तक,अखबार ,पत्रिका व प्रसिद्ध भवन के नाम से पहले The Gita, The Tribune, The Red Fort

6 दिशाओं के नाम से पहले The east , The west

7 नक्षत्रों के नाम से पहले The sun , The moon , The earth, The stars

8 धरम एवं राष्ट्रीयता के नाम से पहले The Hindu, The English

9 ऐसे देशों के नाम से पहले जिनके नाम बहुवचन में हो The U.S.A. , The U.K. The U.N.O.

10 नदी ,पर्वत ,सागर ,महासागर,द्वीप समूहों के नाम से पहले The Ganga, The Himalayas , The Indian Ocean

11 जब कोई विशेषण सम्पूर्ण जातिके लिए प्रयोग हो We should help the poor.

12 एतिहासिक घटनाओं से पहले The Quit India movement, The Revolution of 1857

13 Superlative Degrees के साथ He is the best actor of the year.

14 किसी Noun के बाद में of हो तो उस से पहले The water of this well is pure.

15 जब किसी noun कि विशेषता बताई गई हो This is the boy who sang a song.

16 कुछ शब्दों जैसे same, next, first, second, last etc. से पहले January is the first month of the year.

Articles का प्रयोग नहीं होता

1 Proper nouns से पहले

2 सप्ताह व महीनो के नाम से पहले

3 खेल ,भाषा ,धातु व अनाजों के नाम से पहले

4 भाववाचक संज्ञा से पहले Honesty is the best policy.

5 God शब्द से पहले

6 Man / Woman का प्रयोग पूरी जाति के लिए हो तो भी
